#SassySocialite - Finding Your Salon's Social Persona

Kelly Ehlers | February 22, 2013 | 4:13 PM

The famous sales guru, Zig Ziglar once said, “lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem.”  That couldn’t be truer for social media. You don’t have to master every single social platform to be great at social media.  You just have to master your niche and then OWN IT.

At Style Sync, we often hear, “I don’t have time for Social Media” or “I can’t keep up with all the changes.”  All of which is true, if  you are trying to master everything social, all at once.  But there’s the problem, you don’t need to be everything to everyone to be good at social media.   Know where your audience (your clients) are and meet them on THOSE platforms. The very nature of social media is the idea of a timely conversation based on the brand - or personality of your salon. To help you decide which platforms to focus on, the team at Style Sync has developed a 'social persona' equation to point you in the right direction.

Each of these personalities mesh with a specific platform marrying up salon style and business goals. Our first persona to explore is the “The Socializer,” whom we have deemed the as our #sassysocialite.

The Socializer persona embodies a business owner or stylist who is looking to build and establish a community around their salon. To build a community, you need numbers and Facebook is a great platform for expanding your salon's reach in a local community.

How do you know if you're a socializer? Well, a socializer loves to 'stay in the loop,' and always knows what's going on with her clients and community. Do people come to you for advice?  Are you a bit of a Chatty Cathy? Then maybe YOU fit the profile of the #sassysocialite.

The Socializer's main tool is Facebook where you can share photos, post contests and interact with fans of your page. Now to become the #sassysocializer you need to create a plan of attack and focus on building your Facebook community on and offline to build a dialogue with your clients.

Once you have mastered your art of socializing, Facebook serves as a great content platform and even links well to other social media platforms. But first things first, focus on mastering the ins and out of Facebook and build your network once conversation at a time. Don’t worry, it's not a popularity contest. The quality of the interactions with your followers is much more valuable than the number of followers you have.

If you're not a #SassySocialite never fear! We have 4 more social personalities to unveil and you are sure to fit the bill! Stay tuned for more, but in the mean time, be sure to connect with us on Facebook and Twitter!
