So often, stylists try to duplicate looks seen on the Red Carpet without realizing the most important aspect is the preparation of the strands before forming it into a style. In this how-to, offered by Celebrity Stylist Edward Teitel, you will learn to create these Red Carpet Textures using a flatiron: Fingerwaves, Spirals, Ribbons and Coils, and Undulations. Teitel recommends doing a treatment before styling the hair for a special occassion--like the Olez O2 Detox Treatment or Essence of Youth Treatment, which is like Botox for the hair. (For more information on these treatments visit olezprofessional.com).

Create Fingerwaves, Spirals/Coils and Undulations With a FlatironTo create soft, random fingerwaves use a flatiron. Always keeping the iron pointed up and altering from one side to the other as you rotate the iron to achive the desired wave. Grab the hair that's just been waved and swing the iron in the opposite direction and rotate.

Create Fingerwaves, Spirals/Coils and Undulations With a FlatironTo create spirals, wrap the entire strand from ends to roots as if you do a pincurl, then heat for a few seconds.

Create Fingerwaves, Spirals/Coils and Undulations With a FlatironPlace iron at base and rotate upwards until the iron is parallel to the head. Keep iron close to head and slide down the strand with the iron plate perpendicular to the head.

With the strand held at 90-degrees away from the head, rotate a section 180-degrees one way, then 180-degrees the other way. May be done flat or diagonally to create undulating waves.
