COMPETITION ALERT: Fashion FrenzyWhether you’re in or out of school, an effective way to broaden your styling skills is to join a competition. Not only will you gain valuable hours of practice and critical thinking, you have a chance at getting your name and work out to the public. The skills you’ll learn from preparing for competition will make you a more polished hair designer—increasing your speed, flexing your creative muscle, teaching you to conceptualize styles and then execute them.

CosmoProf is excited to announce Fashion Frenzy: a student-exclusive hair styling competition launching online at now through May 20, 2013, when the six finalists will compete live on stage at the Intercoiffure Spring Symposium in Hollywood Florida for the chance to win huge prizes (and bragging rights!).

“The competition is CosmoProf’s way of creating another opportunity for students to showcase their talent, get exposure to top salons, and breeds the potential for apprenticeship,” says Tracy Pell, Director of Marketing. “We are hoping that this contest not only gives up-and-coming stars in the industry an opportunity to be mentored by industry icons, but also give them their first chance to be recognized for their talent by others in the industry.”

The contest kicks off with a call for entrants to submit three images of a hair style created on a mannequin. Six finalists will be selected to move on to the next round, who will then blog about their entry and will showcase their work live at Intercoiffure for a chance to win the grand prize: $500 CosmoProf shopping spree, a photoshoot with acclaimed industry photographer Babak and Luis Alvarez, Aquage co-founder. The grand prize winner will also appear on the September cover of the CosmoProf Shopping Guide.
