HOW-TO: Create a Faux Mohawk Without the Commitment

HOW-TO: Create a Faux Mohawk Without the CommitmentWant to create a faux Mohawk for your client without the commitment of the shaved sides? Scruples Educator Charlie Price used a model with previously highlighted “sunset” purple and pink hair and fixed it on top of the head, to create a Mohawk effect. This style takes no “cutting” commitment, and the highlights add dimension to the hawk!

Try it: Blow dry the hair with a volumizing styling foam. Next, crimp the hair with a crimping iron using Scruples High Definition Shaping Spray and sweep the entire head of the hair to one side, securing with a row of interlocked pins. Backcomb the hair on the loose side of the pins, and spray with a hard locking finishing spray. To create the final shape, sweep the hair back to the opposite direction, sculpt into a cone and secure with pins, creating a final look that is 1940s, 1980s and futuristic all at the same time.”
