Oscar Faces – and the Winner Is...

David Maderich | July 10, 2011 | 9:49 PM

I loved the Oscars – the dresses, the hairstyles – but most importantly, the makeup.

Sandra Bullock channeled old Hollywood glamour in a gold sheath that she had to be sewn into – how glam is that! She kept her hair simple and wowed the crowds with bright red lips that perfectly complimented her winning smile.

Red lips also gave Cameron Diaz a fresh look – it brightened up her entire face and the cameras loved her.

Monique also turned up the glamour with Liza like lashes and sculpted brows. Her burgundy lips played up her blue gown to perfection. Her gardenia in the hair ode to Billy Holiday completed her head to toe fabulosity.

Jennifer Lopez worked her trademark shimmering nude glow to rave reviews. Ms. Lopez is one of the few actresses (Anna Kendrick pulled if off, too) that can wow a red carpet with a nude lip. Most girls need a little color on the pucker to make them pop – not J Lo. Nude lips that just didn’t work were Gabourey Sidibe and Amanda Seyfried – both would have sparkled with touch more lip color.

Dramatic eyes were another big trend taking a trip up the red carpet. Nicole Richie – always fashion perfection - rocked the house in retro Cleopatra winged eyeliner. And Zoe Saldana’s smokey eyes and dark eyebrows were a standout.

My vote for the worst makeup of the night was definitely Sarah Jessica Parker. The style icon paired a messy up-do with harsh black eyes and nude lips that made her look like the wicked witch of the west.
