Wow. What a evening. New York Fashion Week wrapped up last night with the best show at the Mercedes Benz tents. L.A.M.B., designed by Gwen Stefani, was simply the most perfect presentation from head to toe, celebrating patterns and fabrics from around the world. African tribal wear, Guatemalan, Japanese and Jamaican inspired designs in flowing, midriff baring silhouettes received what we heard was the only standing ovation of the spring 2011 season!

Sexy, feminine, fun, twisted, textured…I'm talking about the hair! Superstar session artist (and Gwen friend and personal hairstylist) Danilo was the lead hair designer. Using an assortment of L'Oreal Professionnel products, Danilo created a special look for each model. Raquel Welsh extensions were married in to the hair to be braided, pulled, roughed up, knotted and pinned in to place. Each finish was unique. Some up, some down, some pony-tailed, all with at least one braid and all in total harmony with the fashion.

Super star colorist Eva Scrivo pre-colored several of the models and wefts using INOA to bring what she called "life and warmth" to the models hair color. Did the color resonate on the runway? "Totally," said Eva. "We showed how to use the color to break all the rules." Whatever rules she broke to enhance their shades, everyone in the audience appreciated the shine and breathtaking hair color on the L.A.M.B. girls.

L.A.M.B. was perfect for MANY reasons, but what made it even more special was how L'Oreal Professionnel made this show accessible to so many hair professionals. In addition to sponsoring Danilo and the backstage artists, LP sectioned off 250 seats for their salon members! This is huge considering most sponsors get just 4 seats for a show!
High profile salon owners, colorists and stylists (Michael Boychuck, Edward Tricomi, Jet Rhys, Jo Blackwell) filled those seats and met with Gwen and Danilo afterwards in a private backstage reception.

Alejandro Lopez, General Manager of L'Oreal Professionnel USA, told me he was most excited to have INOA debut on the runway. "We are creating a documentary and traveling around the US and meet with top accounts to share this show and to teach them how to re-create the color and design seen on the runway."

This season I attended more than 40 shows. L.A.M.B. was my favorite…NO DOUBT.
