P&G Salon Professional has announced their first student stylist competition, which will be held at America's Beauty Show on March 14th, 2011, at McCormick Place in downtown Chicago. Students will be able to pick from one of three categories: Wella Professionals, Clairol Professional and Sebastian Professional.

The Wella and Clairol categories judging will be based on color and the Sebastian category judging will be based on cut and style. Students will be judged not just on hair styling but on their overall look; this includes make-up, wardrobe style and finish, overall color technique (if applicable), application, placement and result.

Fabio Sementilli, Creative Director for P&G Salon Professional, is excited for the student competition: “Today, I’m the Creative Director of P&G salon professional working shoulder to shoulder with the coolest and biggest stars in our industry but none of this would have been possible if I didn’t take that chance to show my skills in competition. Go ahead and make your mark!”

P&G Salon Professional wanted to give students an exciting stage to display their skills—and what better venue than America’s Beauty Show! P&G Salon Professional’s goal for this competition is to energize and encourage students to reach their highest potential as stylists. With this student competition P&G Salon Professional is building the next generation of stylists.

Finalists competing in Chicago will recreate their submission look on stage at America's Beauty Show for a panel of judges. The winner from each category will be awarded a $1,000 cash price, a PGSP Stylist Kit and their choice of an in-school education course taught by a PGSP top educator. All submissions must be postmarked by February 11, 2011. Visit pgsalonpro.com/studentcompetition for more information.
