The TIGI Academy Tour

Maggie Mulhern | August 9, 2011 | 12:43 PM

The coolest advanced academy just opened in the SOHO area of NYC this summer and we just had to check it out. Heath Grout, TIGI USA Creative Director, took us on a tour of the TIGI Academy, a second story space overlooking Broome and Green Streets in the heart of one of New York’s trendiest zip codes. “You’re in luck,” he said to me as I got off the elevator. “We are prepping for a shoot tomorrow so you get to see the space as we prepare our story boards and organize the rooms.”

The 5000 square foot academy features 3 classrooms and several common areas including an impressive retail display.  Offered throughout the year are courses  lasting anywhere from 2 – 4 days, focusing on 7 different areas including cut, color and styling with sub specialties including session work and platform training. Class sizes are capped at about 30 and are all taught by the TIGI Creative Team.
