The staff of the DePasquale Salon and Spa gathered this Sunday in Hanover, New Jersey to throw a spectacular beauty and fashion event in an effort to raise funds to fight cancer. Fashion Fight For A Cure, in its second annual fund raiser, featured a runway competition pitting five teams from the salon in a head to head battle, adding entertainment to the day. Beauty, fashion, food, fun, goody bags and a  silent auction made this sold out event the place to be this weekend.

More than $90,000 was raised to be donated to the Cancer Care Center at Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ in honor of Dr. David DePasquale, cousin of Fashion Fight For a Cure founder Justin Depasquale. "We are not only honoring my cousin," said Justin, "but everyone that is stricken. We are also honoring Tatyana Petrushkevich, a long time spa staff member, who recently lost her own battle. It is impressive how much time and energy people are willing to donate for this event."

More than 400 guests and 50 volunteers were there as well as sponsors including Goldwell, OPI, Little Green, Medi Weightless Clinics and AMA Fight Club.

I was honored to be a judge for the competition. This was particularly difficult because each team was FANTASTIC!  The five groups offered their interpretations of unique and special categories including a bridal theme and a futuristic segment. The winner was "Whimsy", a fun presentation where the models sported fun fashions by Betsey Johnson and equally whimsical hair headed by Depasqaule Creative Designer Emilie Luciano. "I was truly amazed by the work that was put out on the runway by all the teams," says Emilie. "I am proud to have been part of such a wonderful event and great cause. Whimsy ended up being a little girls dream. All of our team did such an amazing job making our models/dolls come to life."
