Women of Beauty: Tracy Collins

October 14, 2011 | 1:14 PM

Tracy Collins

Licensed: Toni&Guy Academy, 1997
First job in beauty: Toni&Guy, 1998

Three highlights of your career:

  1. Winning hairdresser of the year for Toni&Guy 2004
  2. Moving to New York and having the opportunity to work with amazing stylists.
  3. It's hard to say, sometimes it’s the small things like a client who lets you know that you've enhanced her life, or doing a shape at fashion week, or a great  photo shoot and feeling proud of something you've created  and people noticing it. These are the things that  keep me in the industry.

Beauty legend you respect: Pat Mascolo. She is a brillian hairdresser and makeup artist. She does everything so effortlessly and I’m blown away by the end result. I also love how she respects others around her.

Choose beauty because: It's one of the few forms of art that can make a strong impact on people.

Quote or mantra: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”—Gandhi
