Three highlights of your career:

It's difficult to narrow it down to just three, so I'll tell you the first that came to mind:

  1. Winning the 1st alternate position for the USA Student Team in my first competition. I didn't get to go to Hair World, but it opened my eyes wider to the amazing, exciting life of a hairdresser…much more than what I had been exposed to up to that time.
  2. Planning the book signing for Hair Heroes in Cincinnati, Ohio with Todd Hildum. At times it felt as if we were planning a global summit for world leaders but was worth every second. Vidal Sassoon came for a private signing exclusively for my stylists and I still feel like it was one of the best gifts I've ever been able to give them.
  3. The ultimate highlight to this day (not that my career is anywhere near over but I'm not sure anything will ever top it ) is when I got the phone call asking me to work with Oribe for Mr. Armani's Fashion Week Prive' show in Paris two years ago, and Milan last year.  When people found out I was going, they would ask if I was excited about Paris. Of course I was, I'd never been before...but honestly I could have been going to the end of my driveway to work with Oribe on an Armani show! It's something that had been on my bucket list ever since I stood there waiting for the winners to be announced at my first competition as a beauty school student.

Beauty legend you respect: Annie Humphries caught my attention while I was still in school. She's so talented, relatable and fabulous in her own genuine way. The example she sets for women having a long career in this industry by remaining relevant is exemplary.

Choose beauty because: Many of the skill sets necessary to be successful in our industry are the same as those required to be successful in life.

Quote or mantra: “Pick a thing and do it.”—Todd Hildum
