For the third year in a row, Andis employees won a friendly competition with two other firms located in the company’s hometown of Racine, Wisconsin.  Andis, Cree and InSinkErator vied for the honor of donating the most food per employee to the local Racine County Food Bank. Andis won with a total food donation of 5,251 pounds. Together, the three companies donated a total of 11,178 pounds.

According to Matt K. Andis, executive vice president, the company formed the Andis Food Drive Committee in 2009 to make donations and raise awareness of the need to support this local charity.

“All the employees have agreed to continue this competition as an annual event, which is one way we call all give back to the community,” says Andis.

Andis supports its employees with a commitment to several programs and initiatives that protect and enhance the health and well-being of its workforce.

The company has been designated a National Well Workplace by WELCOA, the Wellness Council of America. The company achieved this honor by supporting the council’s seven –point guidelines for planning, intervening and supporting employee health and wellness programs. Andis scored 177 out of a possible 180 points on the WELCOA evaluation application.

“The process of completing the application was extremely useful in uncovering ways of reducing health risks for all of our employees,” says Andis. We will continue to strive for new and better ways to promote the well being of our employees.” Since 1991, approximately 700 organizations have been recognized by WELCOA as some of America’s healthiest companies.
