Wella Professionals' North American Trend Vision is a live hairdressing competition done in front of judges for two days.  Today was prep-day at Wella HQ in Woodland Hills, CA and the judging was on technical work, specifically hair craftmanship skills and creative interpretation of selected Trend Vision 2012 trends.

I'm thrilled to be a judge and humbled to sit alongside my fellow judges who are extremely well-versed in the world of hair, beauty and competition.  They are:

Thomas Dunkin, a celebrity stylist and Core Team Member with Sebastian

Janine Jarman, a Core Team Member with Sebastian and owner of Hairroin Salon

Richie Rivera, North American Color Director for Sassoon

Jennifer J., celebrity colorist and owner of Juan Juan Salons

Bruce Peters, owner of Zazou Salon and Spa Academy in Vancouver, Canada

The competitors come from all points across the US and Canada and are divided into the categories: Color, Young Talent and Student (Canada does not have the Student category.)

They are given four hours from start to finish and an enormous digital clock was positioned in the studios to remind them of the minutes ticking away.

This year, in addition to the Trend Vision awards there is also recognition for being a great team player. The person who showed themselves to be the most helpful, on time, quick, fast and efficient will go backstage during New York Fashion Week with Wella Global Creative Director Eugene Soulemain.

So, these pictures and videos are only a peek at what went on today. Tomorrow night, be sure to Watch Trend Vision 2012 streaming live  beginning at 7:30 Los Angeles time!
