Lauren Salapatek | July 30, 2012 | 12:24 AM

The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in the Wella Professionals’ 2012 North American Trend Vision Awards were announced Sunday evening, July 29th, in Los Angeles.  The event brought together close to 2,000 attendees, while contestants from the U.S. and Canada competed for the Gold, Silver and Bronze in each of the Student, Young Talent and Color categories.  Capturing Gold for the U.S. were Matthew Hom in Color, Kelsey Deuel in Young Talent and Gloritza Aviles in Young Talent.. See the complete list of medalists below, and view a recap of the live broadcast now at modernsalon.com/natva. Gold medal honorees willl get a chance to represent their country at the International Trend Vision Awards in Madrid, Spain this October.

In addition to the competition among finalists from the three categories—which were culled from an impressive 900+ entries to Trend Vision North America--the evening opened with the aerial and gymnastic magic of Los Angeles' Cirque Berzerk followed by trend-inspired looks created live from Sassoon Academy and Sebastian, and a truly avant-garde runway show by famed Russian hairdresser Dmitry Vinokurov.

“It is so important to share passion—and that’s what Trend Vision is all about. We have a group of VERY passionate stylists who enter every year. Recognizing them on stage, seeing them do the best they can, pushing their career forward—it’s so exciting," says Carol Protat, Director of Education for Wella Professionals, Sebastian Professional, Nioxin and Clairol Professional. "In addition to the competition, there were also stage presentations from our Top Artists—they have to do so much work pre show. The artists think about it for months, they storyboard, connect with other artists via Skype and, at the end of the day, what you see on stage is top notch.”
