The dramatic eye.

While in past years this has meant a smoky eye, this fall it’s all about pushing the boundaries with big, vibrant colors! Although this is obviously not a trend that everyone will want to follow, even punching up the color slightly will help translate this look to your every day client. For instance, on the runways, when the eyes are done up completely with an iridescent blue or pop yellow or screaming orange, you can use a colorful liner or even mascara to add more subtle touches of color. Blues work especially well here.

A nude palette.

What better to pair with a dramatic eye than nude lips and cheeks? With one feature well-defined, you must step back on the others, but that doesn’t mean just leaving them alone. Go for nudes with a metallic sheen–but beware, don’t venture into glitter territory! This season it’s all about refinement and subtlety–not garishness. On the cheeks, go soft and light to give skin a healthy, “lit from within” glow.
