Look at this sophisticated swirl of light brown and caramel shades on level 1-2 base. We fell in love at first sight with this look by colorist Shonda Broadus (@shondabroadus) and had to share the formula!

This look is perfect for your dark-haired clients (level 1-2) looking to add some “punch” to their solid hair color. It's also an example of how to add a little flair without taking highlights too far. It’s all about meshing the right shades together to create a masterpiece!

STEP 1: “I began by cutting her layers for color placement,” says Broadus.

STEP 2: "After cutting my client’s hair, I applied Schwarzkopf Professional hair color 4-0, 5-35 with 20 volume on her roots."

STEP 3: “I balayaged the hair with Schwarzkopf Igora Royal Lightener with 30 volume."

STEP 4: "I let the hair process for 25 minutes and then I toned the hair with Schwarzkopf 8-65 and a pinch of 8-7 processing for 10 minutes."

STEP 5: After shampooing and conditioning, I blow dried her hair and styled.

MAKEOVER: Three Sessions Of Beauty

Jenn Malone (@jmalonehair) at Agence Salon, San Dimas, California, says her client "had 85% virgin hair. Her goal is to be a 'rooty' platinum blonde while still keeping the 'lived in' look. My main goal was to get her to her desired color, while still maintaining the integrity of her hair. Patience is the key in achieving this!" How to here.
