Last night’s SAG Awards saw plenty of blonde bobs on the red carpet – even from those with longer locks, like Sophia Bush, who demonstrated how to wear a faux bob with ease. The common factor in each of these short styles? A tousled, rock ‘n’ roll edge to the classic look. Here we have the steps to recreate three short textured looks.

Julie Bowen

Styled by: Jill Crosby, celebrity stylist, Cloutier Remix

The Look: Rough, razored bob

Tools used: T3 Evolution LongLife Dryer, T3 Fahrenheit 450 Flat Iron

How-To:

STEP 1: Beginning with damp hair, prep the hair with mousse to create a volumizing effect.

STEP 2: Next, dry the hair with the T3 Evolution LongLife Dryer, using the concentrator to better focus the heat.

STEP 3: To create the textured straight hair, use only your fingers (no brush) while drying the hair, stretching and pulling out any of the natural curl.

STEP 4: After the hair was 80% dry, use a generous amount of dry shampoo to add additional rough texture and then continue to rough dry the hair.

STEP 5: Once complete, use the T3 Fahrenheit 450 Flat Iron from the middle to ends of the hair to eliminate any bends.

STEP 6: To finish off the deconstructed look, take a piece of hair on each side and pull it back and down, securing with a gold bobby pin.

STEP 7: Finally, apply finishing spray to hold.

The Look: Faux, glam-rock bob

Tools used: T3 Evolution LongLife Dryer, The Tapered Barrel of the T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Barrel Styling Wand, T3 1.75-inch BodyWaver Styling Iron,T3 Fahrenheit 450 Flat Iron, T3 Anti-Gravity 2.5-inch Round Brush, T3 Paddle Brush

How-To:

STEP 1: Beginning with damp hair, use the T3 Evolution LongLife Dryer to blowout the hair with the T3 Anti-Gravity 2.5-inch Round Brush.

STEP 2: After creating a deep side part, section the hair into four parts, and beginning with the bottom layer, use the T3 BodyWaver 1.75-inch Styling Iron to give the hair shape.

STEP 3: Moving to the top layers, curl the hair in 2” sections using the Tapered Barrel of the T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Barrel Styling Wand, ensuring to wrap towards the face.

STEP 4: To create tighter curls at the crown, and looser curls at the bottom, use the smallest part of the tapered barrel at the top of the head.

STEP 5: After the top layer is curled, brush out the curls with the T3 Paddle Brush and then proceeded to gather the hair as if you were going to create a low ponytail; then run the T3 Fahrenheit 450 Flat Iron over the area to break up the perfection of the curls.

STEP 6: Once again, gather the hair at the nape of the neck and rolled it up towards the back of the head, securing it with multiple hairpins.

STEP 7: To create a modern, textured look, pull out random pieces of the pinned hair.

STEP 8: To finish, apply finishing spray to the entire head.
