How-To: Icy Nordic Blonde

Lauren Quick | July 20, 2015 | 7:19 AM

Cool blondes can be hot in the summer!

Many clients want to lighten up as temperatures outside rise, and Joi Rooks, owner of Fresche Salon in Atlanta, Georgia, brought her level 5 client to a light, bright blonde.

"My client came in with level 5 dark hair and wanted to be as light blonde as I could take her," Rooks says. "I approached this as a virgin application, leaving the roots out."

Get the color: Icy Nordic blonde

STEP 1: Apply Goldwell Oxycur Platin and 40 volume to midshaft and ends. Process 30 minutes.

STEP 2: Apply the same to roots and process 25 minutes.

STEP 3: Shampoo with Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair Shampoo.

STEP 4: Mix Goldwell Elumen SV @10 with a splash of AN @5. Apply and process 20 minutes.

"The key to this color is maintaining touchups," Rooks says. "She will need them about every three to four weeks."

MAKEOVER: Three Sessions Of Beauty

Jenn Malone (@jmalonehair) at Agence Salon, San Dimas, California, says her client "had 85% virgin hair. Her goal is to be a 'rooty' platinum blonde while still keeping the 'lived in' look. My main goal was to get her to her desired color, while still maintaining the integrity of her hair. Patience is the key in achieving this!" How to here.
