When her long-time client, Brooke, came into her for an attention-grabbing haircolor, stylist and colorist Amelia ‘Violet’ Camp (@violetthestylist) of Bouffant: A Hair Salon knew she was going to be able to play with vivid hues. Violet transformed Brooke’s blonde locks into a multidimensional, cotton-candy colored creation.

“Brooke is a fine artist and photographer, so my main form of inspiration was creating an outward expression of the color and beauty she creates in her everyday life,” Violet said. “Since she’s embarking on a two-week business trip to sell fine art, her employer asked that that she have color that would attract customers.”

The color of choice was pink, matching the color to Brooke’s shoes and flowers from her wedding last summer.

“Dimension was key in my formulation, so I made six custom shades in the pink family to all blend well together,” Violet said.

The transformation was created in two appointments. At the first appointment, Violet lifted Brooke’s naturally ashy level 7 to a pale blonde using is L’Oreal Professionnel haircolor.

FOR PALE BLONDE:

STEP 1: Using Platinium Ammonia Free Lightening Paste + (2) 20 vol Nutri-developer, fine stitch diagonal back highlight through the top and sides and balayage highlights below the occipital.
STEP 2: Process for 20 minutes
STEP 3: Glaze with DiaLight 10.13+9vol at the shampoo bowl for about 5 minutes.

About a week later, Brooke had her second appointment to add the vivid pink colors to her hair.

VIVIDS FORMULA:

1. (4) Joico Color Intensities clear + (1) Soft Pink + (1) Titanium + large dot of Magenta
2. (2) Clear + (1) Titanium + (1) Soft Pink
3. Pravana Clear + dot of Pravana Neon Pink
4. (4) Pravana Clear + (1) Neon pink + small dot of Magenta
5. Pravana Pretty in Pink + large dot of Neon Pink + small dot of Joico Titanium
6. Pravana Too Cute Coral + Pretty in Pink + dot of Magenta

STEP 1: “I chose to do a shadow root of Formula 1, then alternating each of the other formulas through the ends organically where I wanted to see shadows and highlights,” Violet said.
STEP 2: Separate with Embee Meche and process at room temperature for 20 minutes.
STEP 3: Rinse with ice cold water and style.
