It’s been about eight years since Ralph Lauren’s Fall/Winter 2008 show, a presentation that was in celebration of the brand’s 40th anniversary. The show featured shiny chignons and knots that were created by Redken’s current Global Creative Director Guido, two classic looks that look just as effortlessly elegant today as they did then.

Here is how to replicate those chic, feminine styles using Redken products.

STEP 1: Spray Redken pillow proof blow dry express primer all over damp hair and comb through
STEP 2: While hair is still damp, apply 4-5 pumps of Redken’s new glow dry style-enhancing blowdry oil from roots to ends
STEP 3: Blow dry hair smooth using a flat brush
STEP 4: Gather hair into a smooth, low ponytail, securing at the base of the head with an elastic
STEP 5: Apply a nickel-size amount of Redken braid aid 08 braid defining lotion throughout the length of the ponytail
STEP 6: Twist the length of the hair into a knot, twist or braided chignon and secure with small hair pins
STEP 7: Using fingers, gently apply 2-3 more pumps of glow dry style-enhancing blowdry oil on roots for extra shine
STEP 8: Finish with a thorough mist of Redken control addict 28 high control hairspray for extra hold
STEP 9: Place desired headpiece, hat or accessory on head and secure with small hair pins if necessary
