Keri Unger (@KeriUngerHair) of Cleveland, Ohio posted her beautiful work on our Facebook page and we just had to know how she did this. We were especially in love with her inspiration for this color.

"I'm typically inspired by nature," Unger says. "After a consultation with my long-time client, we wanted to have more cool tones. She loves the look of the silvers and purples but wanted to keep it subtle for her corporate job. So a nice compromise was a dusty light jewel tone (inspired by this image below)."

Unger's client has an ashy natural level 7 base.

STEP 1: "I balayaged highlights pretty sporadic through the mid-shaft and heavier on her ends using Wella Freelights and 40vol Developer 1:2 ratio. I swept the lighter starting at mid-shaft, working my way up. I kept all the highlights two to four inches off her part line."
STEP 2: "At the ends, I used the back of my hand to saturate the lightener through. I used clear plastic wrap to separate sections as well as veil over the top."
STEP 3: Process 30 minutes. Shampoo and condition with Wella Elements Renewing sulfate-free regimen and towel dry.
STEP 4: "I toned with Wella Instamatics Smoky Amethyst (how perfect) 1:1 with Color Touch developer and let process for 30 minutes."
STEP 5: Shampoo and condition with same shampoo and conditioner as before, then add Wella Elements leave-in conditioning spray to hair.
STEP 6: Blowdry, style into waves.
