Allyson Destout (@allydestouttt) of Soleil La Vie, Kettering, Ohio, says that this longtime client  "had box dyed her hair a few months ago, to gradually take her back to icy blonde."

Here Destout shares the details for their journey to the client's desired end result. First step was an ombre:

Step 1: Using Matrix Light Master with 30 volume and Olaplex,  hand paint diagonal sections using the Guy Tang "Diamonds in the Sky" technique.  Continue throughout all sections making sure to evenly saturate. Process for 45 minutes and then rinse.

Step 2: Tone with Wella Color Charm t18 ("my favorite go-to toner for blondes.") Condition with Olaplex #2. Rinse and style.

THREE MONTHS LATER:

Step 3: Using Matrix Light Master with 30 volume and Olaplex, hand paint from midstrand to the root, leaving out the ends that had been previously lightened.

Step 4: Using the Guy Tang "Diamonds In The Sky" technique, continue to hand paint sections,  leaving out about a half inch at the root.

Step 5: Process for about 45 minutes. "She still had a large band of brass from the box dye she had done a few months back." Shampoo and dry.

Step 6: Using Matrix Light Master with 20 volume and Olaplex, heavily highlight in back to back foil slices. Concentrate the lightener on the band of brass only. Process for 20 minutes. Shampoo.

Step 7: Tone with Wella Color Charm T18. Process for 10 minutes. Finish with Olaplex #2.
