Hollie Jacques (@holliegivesgoodhair) of LUX Salon, Stockton, CA, says it had been 7 months since this client had been to the salon.

"She did not take care of her hair," says Jacques who teaches color and balayage with salon owner @Glamiris. "Upon consultation, we agreed to take off four inches to get rid of everything that was compromised. She wanted to go 'back to natural' but showed a picture of Kim Kardashian where the lighting gave the illusion of lighter tones in her signature dark hair. I formulated for a shade lighter than her natural base."

Here Jacques shares the how-to after the pre-cut:

Step 1: Apply Pravana 1/4 5.31 (5GA), 1/4 5.3 (5G), 2/4 4N with Zero Lift Developer and Olaplex #1 to the pre-lightened areas. Process for 35 minutes.

Step 2: Rinse and apply Olaplex #2 for 10 minutes. Cleanse with R+Co Gemstone shampoo and conditioner.

Step 3: Apply R+Co One Prep spray. Finish the haircut with long layers to model the cut in the photo.

Step 4: Apply R+Co Jackpot and finish with a sleek blowout.

How To Winterize a Summer Blonde: Babylights with Reverse Balayage using Redken pH Bonder

Alison Alhamed and Jamie Newman | November 29, 2016

Our summer blonde made the perfect model to demonstrate the beauty of Redken’s new pH Bonder because although she isn’t frequently coloring her hair, living in New York City means she’s walking outside a lot with exposure to the sun and city elements—plus thermal damage from regular use of a curling wand or flatiron. So with protection and hair health being the two key benefits of the additive, she was all in.
