Here's how hair color can help keep things interesting.

"This gorgeous natural brunette decided that when her boyfriend got home from being away she would surprise him by being a blonde bombshell," says colorist at Ramirez Tran in Beverly Hills, @slim_color.  "I love a good spicy twist in a relationship."  And we love this final bright, clear tone she achieved for her client.  Hair cut  by @alissasmithhair

STEP ONE: She highlighted her once and got her pretty light with 20 volume and Olaplex then painted her ends with 40 volume and a bit less Olaplex.

TIP: "I recommended that we keep some of her natural instead of giving her a lighter base.  More highlights can make you feel more blonde without altering the base."

STEP TWO: "After the first go, we both did not love it but she had to go.  So I sent her home with Olaplex to leave in."

STEP THREE: Her client returned to the salon and they picked through and highlighted pieces that were too golden.

"I gave her a shadow root and an all over gloss.  Poof, she's a blonde!"
