Collect your thoughts… Have you ever heard the expression, “what gets written down or focused on gets done?” That is one of many reasons why daily journaling is an effective, rewarding practice for many people. It can also be a mindful way to de-stress at the end of the day.

For salon professionals interested in adopting a Healthy Hairdresser lifestyle, keeping a journal can support your efforts to “take care of you” in one or all of our three areas of body, spirit and business.

This month’s challenge is sponsored by salon professional brand Fuel, who empowers salon professionals to personalize a journal in any style you wish, with words and visuals. Share your journal ideas and intentions (excerpts are optional) at between July 1-31 to win one of 10 “MY PORTFOLIO” books—a personal, customized, quality hardcover book produced especially for salon professionals to showcase you work and inspire your guests during consultations, valued at $150!

Step 1: Decide what kind of journal you wish to keep and for what purpose (or tell us about your existing journaling practices). According to Fuel’s educators and experts, you can use a journal to:

  • Stay present and focused on personal and professional goals, ranging from diet to exercise to salon retail and service sales.
  • Record something that happened during the day – including dealing with a difficult client. After you write it down, pledge to forget about it and start fresh tomorrow.
  • Document any bright idea or inspiration that struck you during the day that you want to remember.  Log any new techniques you want to explore with your guests this month.

Step 2: Visit between July 1-31.

Step 3: Complete the easy “Daily Journal” Challenge form.

Step 4: Provide your mailing address and phone number to be entered to win one of 10 “My Portfolio” custom books from Fuel.

How To Winterize a Summer Blonde: Babylights with Reverse Balayage using Redken pH Bonder

Alison Alhamed and Jamie Newman | November 29, 2016

Our summer blonde made the perfect model to demonstrate the beauty of Redken’s new pH Bonder because although she isn’t frequently coloring her hair, living in New York City means she’s walking outside a lot with exposure to the sun and city elements—plus thermal damage from regular use of a curling wand or flatiron. So with protection and hair health being the two key benefits of the additive, she was all in.
