"This client had a grown out ombre and had not had her hair highlighted in more than one year," says Eva Scrivo (@evascrivosalons), owner of the Eva Scrivo Salons in NYC. "Living in California allowed her to maintain her light blonde ends through sun exposure, which softened her natural level 5 base. She wanted a richer tone, similar to her natural base color, and wanted to bring back the shine to her hair that she once had prior to numerous ombre applications. Our consultation proved she would be the perfect candidate for the 'Femme' trend, part of our Trends Forecast for fall/winter. The result was an overall brunette with brighter pops of color around the face, reminding us that even rich brunettes can have a taste of blonde when artfully applied. This impactful, yet low maintenance, color will be perfect once back in California as the placement of the highlights work well with the shape of her haircut as well as her head shape, allowing for a more seamless grow out."

Formula:

  • Highlights: Silklift by Goldwell combined with 30vol Silklift developer and 1 pump of silk drops.
  • Lowlights: 7.3 L'Oreal Professionnel Richesse with 9vol in foils.
  • Toner: 10N Colorance by Goldwell.

Application: Using the Balayage technique, our model's hair was sectioned from ear to ear and two inches from her natural hairline, taking half dollar-sized pieces. In order to give maximum impact without over-highlighting the hair,  6-8 smaller sections were then taken and highlighted, with the addition of some lowlights. (Processed for 30 minutes). This left enough of her natural base color for added depth to remain. The toner was processed for 5 minutes.

Scrivo holds classes in her NYC salon in the Flat Iron district of NYC. The next workshop will be held Sept. 12, 2016.  For more info go to http://evascrivo.com/academy/
