"Even though I educate with specific companies, working at two very different salons has made me lucky enough to be able to experiment with other product lines as well as color lines."

Formulation, timing, and client backstory:

THE STORY: "Shayne came to me after having her hair done at a different salon. I had never worked on her hair before. She's had several months of highlighting as well as having some teal tips done with 'splat' hair color. Her roots had also been lifted with a highlift tint 3 weeks prior our appointment together. Shayne's hair was cut extremely uneven before and she was looking to get a slight a-line bob with a more sophisticated color."

Step 1: Remove as much of the remaining teal by using Joico's Lightening Booster with equal parts 30 volume developer. Added to the formula is 1/4 ounce of Subtil XRescue No. 1 ("for extra protection in order to keep the integrity of the hair as best as possible.") Apply this formula to the fashion color area. Work in with the hands for about 40 minutes until enough of the teal vanishes. Shampoo, blow dry.

Step 2: Mix up two formulas: root area: 3/4 parts 4.20 + 1/4 part 4 of Subtil Crème Permanent Hair Color with 10 volume developer. Mid shaft to ends: same formula with Subtil's Universal Developer.  1/4 ounce of Subtil XRescue No. 1 was added to each formula. Apply both formulas at the same time and process for 35 minutes. Shampoo twice with Phyto Kératine Extreme Shampoo, towel dry, apply Subtil XRescue No. 2 and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse well and condition again with Phyto Kératine Extreme Mask. Process for 5 minutes and rinse.

Step 3: Cut into a sleek bob with a slight a-line. Style with Phyto 9, Phytodéfrisant and Phytovolume for body. Style in a hair- wrap technique using a Denman brush.

"The whole transformation process took about 3.5 hours from start to finish. Shayne was very pleased with the outcome and the integrity of her hair was amazing when we were finished... and that's what matters most!"
