THE BOND DEBATE

Question: “On dimensional color that requires pre-lightening, would you recommend using a bond-builder like FHI’s neo-bond in the lightener, toner or both formulations?” --Jimmy

Answer: “Definitely, the lightener! You really don’t need it in the toner because that already has the ceramides built into it and, Matrix ColorSync especially, it’s going to be very conditioning and very good for the hair.

HAIR AND CHLORINE ISSUES

Question: “With summer weather is here and everyone is running the pool. What is the best way to prevent chlorine buildup and your blondes from turning green?” --Tori

Answer: “Matrix’s So Silver. On any of my blondes I always recommend they keep a bottle of So Silver in the shower and try that once or twice a week especially after being in the pool.

KEEPING COLOR FRESH

Question: “With summer being here, how do you keep color looking salon-fresh and not faded?” --Victoria

Answer: “Don’t underestimate the power of a conditioning treatment. Every couple of weeks, do a service to really close down the cuticle and keep color looking shiny. The other thing? Glossing treatments every three or four weeks even five weeks, especially on ombres or balayages where clients are prolonging color appointments further and further. Get in at least three, four, five weeks in that span, and really get a color glossing to revitalize your color. It’ll keep color looking shiny, healthy and keep the longevity of that color.”
