Heggy Gonzalez (@heggyhair), a stylist, makeup artist, educator and fashion designer combined all her strengths to create this beautifully balanced and extremely flattering haircolor.  Gonzalez worked with all Aveda products.  And the technique she refers to--eclipting--is subtle shading and highlighting to bring out the best in each client's coloring, face shape, etc.  The technique was developed by Aveda Global Artistic Director Ian Michael Black.

FORMULA 1-BASE NG: 40g 5N + 3g D B/G + 3g D V/R + 40g 10V Color Catalyst
FORMULA 2-BASE MID-LENGTH AND ENDS: 10g 6N + 1g D B/G + 5g D V/R + 40g 20V Color Catalyst

  1. Hair was lifted to a level 7/8 in foils using the Eclipting technique with Enlightener and 20V using the Formula 1 and melting Enlightener in the top section, below the parietal ridge it was Formula 1 and 2.
  2. Hair was then shampooed and prepped for the Formula 3.

FORMULA 3- GLOSSING FORMULA: 20g Intense Base + 10g Pure Pigment Violet + 5g Pure Pigment Orange + 20g 10V Color Catalyst (if hair is more orange you can add 1g of Pastel Blue Pure Pigment).  The end result will vary depending on the level of lightness that is achieved.

CONVERSION: From Warm to Cool

Maggie Mulhern | April 17, 2017

"This client came in with very brassy, yellow and orange tones throughout her hair," says Austin Senior. "She was all levels 8 and 9 with about 5 inches of her natural level 7 regrowth. Her goal was a very cool platinum blonde with no silver and a shadow root slightly darker/cooler than her natural level." Here Senior shares the details for this makeover.
