HOW-TO: Lighten Hair for Fall Using the Blonde Wand from Pravana

Jamie Newman | October 4, 2016 | 9:16 AM

Who says clients should only go dark for fall?

Emily Blunt proved this outdated theory wrong by revealing a blonde lob recently during New York Fashion Week.

Pravana Artistic Regional Trainer Lissette Cruz gives a step-by-step of how to recreate this look for your own clients, giving them the perfect fall blonde color, using Pravana's new Blonde Wand and Pure Light Creme Lightener.

FORMULAS:
FORMULA 1: 1 part Pure Light Creme Lightener + 2 Parts 20 vol Crème Developer
FORMULA 2: ½ oz. ChromaSilk ColorLush 8N Double Latte + ½ oz. 6G Golden Goddess + 1 oz ColorLush Activator
FORMULA 3: 1 oz. ChromaSilk ColorLush Clear + 1 oz. ColorLush Activator

GET THE LOOK:

STEP 1: Begin with a large stitch on an angled panel above the ear. Start your section from the hairline towards the back slightly behind the ear. This type of sectioning is quick and easy and provides the opportunity to maximize your blonding capabilities using between five and eight foils in two sections on the head, without having to create a third section.
STEP 2: Apply Pure Light Crème Lightener FORMULA 1 to the ends and work your way up to the scalp. Make sure to feather the lightener in at the scalp to avoid harsh lines.
STEP 3: Work your way up to the client’s natural part, keeping slightly angled horizontal sections.
STEP 4: Process. Use The Blonde Wand for a quick lightening service.
STEP 5: Shampoo with NEVO Moisture Rich sulfate-free Shampoo, then towel dry. Apply ColorLush FORMULA 2 to the regrowth area to deposit shadow root color.
STEP 6: Apply FORMULA 3 from roots to ends to create a seamless blend and add extra shine!
STEP 7: Shampoo, condition and rinse with NEVO Moisture Rich sulfate-free Shampoo and Conditioner. Style as desired.

How To Winterize a Summer Blonde: Babylights with Reverse Balayage using Redken pH Bonder

Alison Alhamed and Jamie Newman | November 29, 2016

Our summer blonde made the perfect model to demonstrate the beauty of Redken’s new pH Bonder because although she isn’t frequently coloring her hair, living in New York City means she’s walking outside a lot with exposure to the sun and city elements—plus thermal damage from regular use of a curling wand or flatiron. So with protection and hair health being the two key benefits of the additive, she was all in.
