Behind the Cover: October 2012

October 5, 2012 | 12:06 PM

Behind the Cover: October 2012Some shoots are inspiring, some are intense and some are outright exciting. A shoot with Pureology’s Colour Ambassador Ruth Roche and Redken Artist and Chromatics Artistic Advisor Patrick Fitzwater, proved to be all of the above. MODERN SALON Media is thrilled to be the first to create, host and debut the first session combining the essence of the two lines and talents of these premiere artists.

“This was exciting for us as well,” says Roche. “We got a chance to magnify the beauty of both brands by working together. What a beautiful marriage!”

The Roberto Ligresti Studio in NYC was the site where this marriage took place. Models Elizabeth and Tetianna were selected from a group of 10 simply because the artists felt each was able to “carry off” a new look.

“Elizabeth, the shorter haired model, said we could do pretty much anything with color,” says Fitzwater, “so she was the perfect model to show how we’ve put the ‘red back in Redken.’” Fitzwater transformed both models using the Chromatics line by Redken.

Roche was equally energized because each model offered an opportunity to demonstrate some of her unique cutting techniques. “OK, so I didn’t get a ‘do whatever you want’,” said Roche, “but each model allowed me to execute some of my favorite texturizing techniques including ‘polka dots’ and ‘curtains’. This was a great day.”
