OSCARS: Kerry Washington's Sleek Beach Waves & Dusty Purple Gown "Scandal Star" Kerry Washington worked the Oscars Red Carpet in a dazzling dusty purple strapless Jason Wu gown and beautiful sleek beach waves created by celebrity stylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew using HairArt tools. If you saw her on the Red Carpet she embodied luxury this year -- it's one of those moments where everything was put together from the dress to the hair! See what was said about Washington on MODERN's Facebook!

“I was completely inspired by her amazing dress – and knew I had to create a longer, goddess effect with hair falling on the shoulder,” said Sturdivant-Drew. “I made the look fresh and beachy, with a left part, volume on top and back, and sides sleekly pulled back to frame the face. The hair was styled to fall forward on the left side.

GET THE LOOK:

STEP 1: Shampoo and condition hair. Then, blow dry the hair using a HairArt H3000 Dryer 1800 using a vent brush, pulling hair up and away to give it texture.

STEP 2: Next, create volume at the roots, especially in the crown area. Pull the hair on the right side tight and pin it. Do the same with the left side, adding a bit more height at the crown for balance and volume, then pin.

STEP 3: Use a flatiron to separate the ends and create subtle suggesion of a wave without any curl.
