On Aug. 4, 2014, Hair for Heroes invites salons nationwide to raise money for Hometown Heroes, an organization that provides financial support, professional assistance and advocacy to individuals or families who suddenly find themselves in a crisis.

Industry giants Davines, Wella, Vidal Sassoon and more are pledging their support to the movement, and it's easy to get you to join in, too.

HOW SALONS CAN GET INVOLVED:
STEP 1: Visit the Hair for Heroes crowdrise.com page at crowdrise.com/hairforheroes.
STEP 2: Set up your salon fundraising page.
STEP 3: Introduce Hair for Heroes in your salon, get your team excited and encourage each stylist to set up his/her own personal fundraising page.
STEP 4: Share your efforts with clients and encourage them to come out Aug. 4 for Hair for Heroes.

Hair for Heroes: Cuts for a CauseA donation of $50 per haircut and a minimum goal of $1,000 per salon is recommended. Crowdrise offers incentives for salons and stylists to raise as much money as possible. Prizes will be awarded based on reaching fundraising goals and raising the most money overall. Use #hairforheroes to show support.

"One of the greatest things about this organization is that it is all about people becoming heroes in their own communities," says Hair for Heroes creator Christine Zilinski, who is also a part of Salon Concrete. "Many people don't know how they can help. Hometown Heroes has created a program where local businesses can participate and get recognition for their commitment to their community and philanthropic efforts.

"Hairdressers are very giving people. If they do ten haircuts to help, they can make a difference and dramatically affect the lives of people who desperately need help. We want to move hairdressers to join hands and do just that."
