Nothing like a classic Pompadour to help your clients ring in the holidays and the New Year! Get the full how-to here offered by American Crew.

STEP 1: Separate the top from the bottom with a high horse-shoe part.

STEP 2: Use clipper-over-comb with a #1 blade to cut vertical panels and create a square or slightly graduated shape.

STEP 3: Pivot the comb from a slightly graduated shape under the occipital to a square shape above the occipital.

STEP 4: Create a T-parting at the center of the top of the head.

STEP 5: Use horizontal sections for moderate length and weight at the transition and top of the head. Connect to the guide under the horseshoe parting at the back of the ear. At the front, disconnect to great length. Elevate straight out from the head.

STEP 6: Divide the crown area into three sections with horizontal sub-sections in each. Connect to your guides.

STEP 7: Connect side-to-side sections across the top of the head by cutting off the corner at the center of the head. Use horizontal sections for moderate length and weight at the transition and top of the head. Connect to the guide under the horseshoe parting at the back of the ear. At the front, disconnect to great length. Elevate straight out from the head. Cut only at the center top, and overdirect to the previous for added length at the front hairline.

STEP 8: Use a large clipper comb and #1 blade to blend from the in-terior to a perfect tailored fit with no length at the hairline. Cut-over-comb and set in the final shape by fanning.

STEP 9: Refine the area near the ear and at the sideburns.

STEP 10: With a razor, slide-cut the hair in isolated areas in the loca-tion of support, from 1 to 3 inches off of the scalp. Slightly tilt the razor beyond parallel to the hair, working against the natural fall.

STEP 11: For a polished, high-hold finish with memory, use a high dosage of American Crew Firm Hold Gel as the base product on hair with little or no water saturation.

STEP 12: Begin shaping and elevating the style with your hands as you rough-dry the hair.

STEP 13: Use the high tension from a boar bristle brush to lift hair up at the front hairline and then bend back.

STEP 14: To boost shine, apply a small amount of American Crew Pomade over the surface, and use a paddle brush to lift the front and smooth the sides.
