Pantone's 2017 Color of the Year is Greenery, a vibrant yellow-green. According to pantone.com, Greenery is meant to celebrate new beginnings, much like new spring growth.

"Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment," says Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman on the Pantone site. "Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose."

The beauty industry has been fast to pick up on the vibrant color. Cotê Hair, for one, has utilized Greenery as the main color in its logo. According to Cote's Brent Golden, they chose Greenery because it is consistent with the eco-friendly, plant-based health focus of the brand's products and packaging.

Aveda's Ian Michael Black, global artistic director, hair color, is already showing how to embrace the 2017 Color of the Year in beauty. He used Aveda's eclipting technique and Aveda color to create the pops of Greenery on a chic, blunt bob—formulation below!
