Maggie Mulhern | January 3, 2017 | 6:31 AM

Marianne Lohr (@mannie_mak), a freelance artist based in Bethlehem, PA, says "Transformations are an absolute favorite of mine! Giving my clients exactly what they ask for is a great feeling." For this new client, Lohr got that opportunity. "She came to me and asked me to get rid of her golden band and dead ends, and wanted a cooler toned rooted blonde."

Here Lohr shares how she achieved her new look:

Step 1: Shampoo and towel dry. Apply Wella Color Touch 4/71 & 5/0 with 1.9% from root to midshaft. Process for 25 minutes, rinse, shampoo and condition.

Step 2: Apply heavy balayage using Solaris Poudr 6 and 30 & 40 volume + Olaplex. Wrap in plastic wrap and process under the dryer for 20 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse with cool water and apply Olaplex No.2 for 10 minutes. Rinse, shampoo with Matrix So Silver and towel dry.

Step 4: Apply Wella Color Touch 9/01 with 1.9% for 20 minutes.

Step 5: Cut about 5 inches.

Step 6: Style with BabylissPro 1 inch curling iron.

Jenn Malone (@jmalonehair) at Agence Salon, San Dimas, California, says her client "had 85% virgin hair. Her goal is to be a 'rooty' platinum blonde while still keeping the 'lived in' look. My main goal was to get her to her desired color, while still maintaining the integrity of her hair. Patience is the key in achieving this!" How to here.
