Maggie Mulhern | January 20, 2017 | 8:14 AM

Ashley Nocera (@makeoversbyashleybrooke) of Aella Salon and Day Spa (@aellasalonandspa) of Meadville, Penn., had a fun challenge, bringing her faded fashion client back to life. Here she shares the how-to:

STEP 1: Pre-lighten to a level 10 using Redken Flash Lift lightening powder and 20 volume Pro Oxide Cream Developer.

STEP 2. At the bowl tone with Redken ShadesEQ Gloss 9T+Crystal Clear and Processing Solution. Shampoo and dry completely.

STEP 3: Create a "captivating blue" shade using Redken City Beats. At base apply Broadway Blue with a pinch of Indigo Skyline for a smoky royal blue. Using a freehand balayage technique, hand paint dimension throughout the rest of the hair using Broadway Blue, Brooklyn Blue, Indigo Skyline and Clear.

MAKEOVER: Three Sessions Of Beauty

Maggie Mulhern | March 2, 2017

Jenn Malone (@jmalonehair) at Agence Salon, San Dimas, California, says her client "had 85% virgin hair. Her goal is to be a 'rooty' platinum blonde while still keeping the 'lived in' look. My main goal was to get her to her desired color, while still maintaining the integrity of her hair. Patience is the key in achieving this!" How to here.
