Balayage For A Brighter and Dimensional Design

Maggie Mulhern | January 23, 2017 | 4:27 PM

Sharon So, a Creative Director for Bubbles Salon and Cibu Hair Care, based in Towson, Maryland, says "This was a new client that came in and wanted brighter, cooler toned highlights. She didn't want to sit in the salon for hours."

Here So shares how she granted her wish with some dramatic balayage:

Step 1: Using the balayage technique, create shadows and lighter highlights in wide horizontal sections. Base color:  L'Oréal Professionnel Dialights 7 with 9 volume developer.

Step 2: To the lengths apply Mulitechniques powder with 40 volume and Olaplex.

Step 3: Process for 45 minutes. Shampoo.

Step 4: Tone with equal parts Dialights 9.11 and 10.21 blended with 6 volume for 10 minutes.

CONVERSION: From Warm to Cool

Maggie Mulhern | April 17, 2017

"This client came in with very brassy, yellow and orange tones throughout her hair," says Austin Senior. "She was all levels 8 and 9 with about 5 inches of her natural level 7 regrowth. Her goal was a very cool platinum blonde with no silver and a shadow root slightly darker/cooler than her natural level." Here Senior shares the details for this makeover.
