When OPI co-founder Suzi Weiss-Fischmann was first introducing OPI and its offerings to the beauty world, manicures were something reserved for special occasions and a pedicure was a warm-weather indulgence. Today, a mani/pedi are grooming “musts” and many women keep standing appointments with their nail professional, ensuring their nails are always on point.

Weiss-Fischmann and OPI will continue making “musts” with the launch of their new skincare line, OPI Pro Spa, in March. The formulas in this professional manicure and pedicure line are inspired by facial skincare ingredients and technologies and were developed under the oversight of dermatologist Dr. Zena Gabriel.  She sees, first-hand, how often women will obsess about maintaining the appearance of youth on their face while ignoring the damage being done to the skin on their hands and the tell-tale signs of aging that start to appear.

At a press event held at the Ciel Spa in Beverly Hills on January 24, 2017, Weiss-Fishmann, Gabriel and members of the OPI marketing and education teams treated guests to an OPI Pro Spa experience, while talking to them about the evolution of the line.

“This has been a long process,” Weiss-Fischmann says, “and we are so excited to be sharing these products with our professionals.”

Director of Global Professional Marketing Ellen Markus came from a beauty and skincare background and as she looked at other manicure and pedicure lines, she felt everyone was doing the same thing and there was no compelling reason for the professional to offer it.

“My objective was to develop an all-encompassing line to be both efficacious and to provide that spa experience for the client,” Markus says. “We’re bringing the best practices from dermatology and skin care to care of the skin on your hands and feet.”

By teaming with Dr. Gabriel, OPI has brought a passionate, informed voice to the product development process.

“Women have always paid so much attention to their skin on other parts of the body but hand care needs to be a part of that daily regimen, “ Dr. Gabriel says. “In the last decade, the beauty and dermatology community have ‘kissed’ and we see an intersection between them in the development of products that have potent, powerful molecules in their formulas, like those in OPI Pro Spa. There is a scientific basis behind this line.”

The full reveal of the line-up for manicure and pedicure services will be in March 2017.
