2017 Beauty Changes Lives Leo Passage Scholarship Winners Announced

The Beauty Changes Lives (BCL) Foundation has announced its four 2017 Leo Passage Scholarship winners. Every year, BCL awards the scholarship to up-and-coming cosmetology students attending a member school of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS).

This year, the honorees are:

  • Latasha Coy, Bellus Academy, Manhattan, KS
  • Alaska Gaziola, Beau Monde Academy of Cosmetology, Portland, OR
  • Holly Moretti, Penrose Academy, Scottsdale, AZ
  • Matthew Stradling, Bellus Academy, Poway, CA

Each of the four students will spend a week in Chicago to learn and work with mentors from Pivot Point International. They'll create mood boards, cast models and participate in a hair fashion photoshoot that they can utilize in their portfolios to help them secure jobs upon graduation.

The banner week will end with America's Beauty Show and the 2017 BCL Experience, where the students will design models to walk the runway. The team will be mentored by Yolly ten Koppel, Pivot Point International artistic director, and Jason Russel, field educator.

To be chosen for the scholarship and accompanying opportunities, the students submitted a video with the theme of "Shout your beauty."

"The winners truly represent the spirit of both the beauty industry and Pivot Point," says Pivot Point Chairman and CEO Robert Passage. "Their passion, creative curiosity and pride in becoming hairdressers were all evident in their videos. We look forward to working with them throughout this exciting week."

The BCL Experience is Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Art Institute of Chicago. Get tickets here!
