Catherine Long (@catherinelovescolor) owner of Catherine's Hair Design inside of suite salon spa in Cadillac, MI, says her new guest "wanted icy blonde hair with a soft shadow root. This is the number 1 requested look in my salon also my favorite to do!"

Here she shares the details for this makeover:

Step 1: Using Oligo Blacklight Cool Tone with 20 volume developer and Olaplex 1/16 oz, place babylights (in foils) throughout to break up the new growth.
Step 2: Then balayage what was left out of the foils - being very careful to pick out only the gold pieces - and paint with Oligo Blacklight Clay Lightener with 30 volume and 1/16 of Olaplex. Air process to desired lift. Shampoo and towel dry.
Step 4: Color melt using the following using Redken Shades EQ:

1/2 inch at root: 8n 3/4 oz, 7P1/4 oz, 7n1/4 oz

Smudge down a bit to mids: 9v1/4 oz,9n 3/4oz and 1 oz of processing solution.

Mids to ends: 9v ,9p,Clear equal parts.

Step 5: Process all for 12 minutes. Rinse. Apply Olaplex #2. Shampoo and condition with Redken Extreme Mask. Rinse and style with Bio Ionic long barrel curing iron.
