FASHION WEEK: Beauty at Reem Acra

Maggie Mulhern | February 11, 2013 | 8:02 PM

The beauty accenting the Reem Acra Fall/Winter 2013 Collection was strong and intense, adding to the overall sophisticated and elegant designs.

Didier Maliage, for Rene Furterer, used VOLUMEA volumizing conditioning spray and VEGETAL Sculpting Gel to mimic a balding man's "Comb over" which he enhanced by separating the strands with hairpins. Maliage admits that he was channeling the cartoon character "Olive Oyl" (yes...that one..Popeye's girlfriend) with a deep side parting, very wet finish and tight knot at the nape for the surprisingly tasteful silhouette.

For nails, Essie's Gina Edwards layered two colors, "Bordeaux" and "Soul Mate", to create a deep rich red. "The fashions are Asian inspired," she says. "The collection is full of dark, deep, rich reds and blacks. With the hair, make up and nails...it's a very powerful statement all around."
