One of the most exciting invites during New York Fashion Week was to the Jeremy Scott fall/winter 2013 Collection. There I had the honor to sit next to Fabio Sementilli, Creative Director for Wella, who was thrilled to see Oribe off in the distance.

"It's great that he is here," he said. "I challenge all stylists to get involved. That is the way to expand yourself both professionally and creatively."  Fabio then went on to tell me that attending fashion shows for the fashion world is a must, it is also vital for the beauty industry. "This is particularly important for hairdressers of note or leaders of their salons...they must to attend to be inspired and inspire others."

Mark Debolt agrees. He was backstage and offered Modern Intern Amanda Smith some of his own advice: "It's important to do something that challenges yourself," he said. "Stylists, particularly young stylists, must push themselves and find a mentor. It's a great way to look at your work and yourself through a different lens."

A bonus video is a teeny tiny interview with Oribe as he was looking for his seat. It's always great to see our industry superstars.
