Hairdressers DO Change Lives: A Beautiful Career

Katy Perry's gone from black to red to blonde to lavender to now....back to blonde!!—debuting her look Saturday on Saturday Night Live. Perry's colorist Rita Hazan says that Perry was ready for a change considering that her last "dream shade" lavender hair style was high maintenance, and that it faded really fast. (In fact the pink-blonde look that Perry sported a week ago was just the result of her color fading says Hazan.)

Hazan recommends to Perry that at-home conditioning treatments are crucial to her hair's health. "I know she does them, because she always calls me and asks me to send her more product," she says. "She takes it seriously because she likes to keep her hair healthy. It doesn't just stop at the salon—it has to continue at home, too, and she understands that."
