HOW-TO: Braided Halo Updo

Spring is here, which means that wedding season is upon us! In honor of the month, Kristen Huff of Head Games Salon in Portland, ME, created this beautiful braided crown on her client Erin for special occasion. The final look is extremely versatile and can easily be worn from day to night.

BRAIDED HALO

STEP ONE: To begin, Huff prepped Erin's dry, unwashed hair with Oribe Dry Texturizing spray.

STEP TWO: Wrap 1.5" sections of hair loosely around a 1.5" curling wand, twisting while wrapping to create a rough beach texture

STEP THREE: Starting slightly farther over than the natural part, lightly back comb at the base of each braid.

STEP FOUR: Holding the hair loosely, braid down by pulling strands from underneath not over.

STEP FIVE: Before securing, "stretch" each braid by softly tugging on the sides until the desired width is reached. Secure each braid with crossed pins.

STEP SIX: Create twists with remaining curls, loop and pin until desired effect for bustle. Finish with Oribe Superfine and Oribe Shine.
