The Mark Garrison Salon in New York City is usually associated with the latest in hair styling trends, but on Wednesday evening February 10 at 7 pm the normal celebrity clientele will give way to a unique group called Bald Girls Do Lunch.

Bald Girls Do Lunch is a non-profit organization dedicated supporting women suffering from alopecia areata, a dermatological condition that causes partial or total hair loss.

The organization is hosting Celebrate Three at the salon to recognize both the third anniversary of Bald Girls Do Lunch and the group's third Gold Triangle Award from the American Academy of Dermatology.

The organization was founded by Thea Chassin who has suffered from Alopecia areata universalis since 1997 and has become a mentor and facilitator for other women with this disorder. Thea has appeared on many major news outlets, including The Today Show and is a tireless spokesperson for this cause.

The Bald Girls Do Lunch Celebrate Three event will include a dinner buffet, door prizes and stylist consultations. Representatives from luxury wig manufacturer Follea and other companies will be on hand to help women explore hair system options. Guests will also receive consultations from make-up artist Jill Imbrogno and have a chance to try out Bald Girls Do Lunch eyebrow make-up. Special guest Faren Collins, a contestant in the 2010 Miss New York pageant, will also attend.

Bald Girls Do Lunch Events offer women with alopecia the opportunity to receive information, view demonstrations and be part of this national support organization.

If you will be in New York, mark this event on your calendar: Bald Girls Do Lunch, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Mark Garrison Salon, 108 East 60th Street. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. For information, visit baldgirlsdolunch.org.
