The space was designed by architect Avi Oster and the interior is functional and high tech with pristine white walls and bursts of color in the furnishings-seems like the perfect oasis for client services and professional education.

"Some people love the Studio and others think it is too spare," says Cristiano. "But whether they like the space or not, people are talking about it."

The real story, however, is Cristiano, himself, a former creative director for Vidal Sassoon, who worked in London, Los Angeles and New York. A master stylist and educator, Cristiano wants to get the word out about the monthly schedule of advanced cut and color workshops that he and his team are conducting using the Italian luxury product line Davines (which he uses exclusively in the salon). Cristiano limits the classes to 10 students so that everyone gets personal, hands-on instruction. The education begins with a cut and color demonstration in the morning featuring a team introduction followed by concept development, consultation, hair analysis, step-by-step techniques, color theory and an open discussion. After lunch, the hands-on workshop begins with one-on-one instruction in cutting techniques followed by color formulation, placement and applications. A lecture segment covers cut and color diagram drafting, color formulation and a class summary.

Cristiano's Sassoon experience in the art of cutting and his devotion to fashion, design and beauty give class participants an extraordinary educational experience, and the Studio itself is a creative inspiration.

If you are going to be visiting New York, Cristiano has classes scheduled for August 17, September 20 and 21, October 25 and  26, November 15 and 16 and December 14. The cost is $210 a day and the limited size means that classes fill quickly. To learn more, or to register, call Lena Drakos for Davines at 212-924-2470, ext. 15.
