The Zotos International manufacturing facility in Geneva, New York was recently recognized as Business of the Year by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. The plant manufactures products for the Joico and ISO brands and was selected from more than 200 Chamber members vying for the distinction.

Anthony Perdigao, Zotos vice president of operations, credits "the strength and commitment of our employees and the fact that in tough times, our team was more committed than ever to help grow our business. That made it one of our best years ever."

The technologically advanced facility has state-of-the-art production and quality control features, but it was its environmental agenda and a recycling program that handles water, paper and hazardous materials that gave it the extra winning edge.

In 2009, Zotos eliminated more than 300 tons of carbon emissions and reduced lighting costs by 30 percent.Zotos obtains raw materials from local sources whenever possible and, through that initiative, has generated more than $5 million in support of local businesses.

The company is establishing a wind power program that will generate 60 percent of its energy in 2010 and more than 100 percent by 2011 with surplus energy being donated back to the city of Geneva.

The plant's more than 330 full time and 127 part time employees participate in many local community projects and organizations and support local and national charities that includes March of Dimes, United Way, Ronald McDonald House, American Cancer Society and more.

"Our corporate citizenship and community involvement are truly sources of pride," says Perdiago.

Ronald Krassin, president and CEO of Zotos International, says, "This is a huge accomplishment. Anthony and his team should be proud of the contribution they have made to Zotos and to the greater Geneva community. The plant is infused with positive energy and a ‘can-do' spirit, and our recent success and expected future success are direct results of the facility's contributions."
