Last week, MODERN interviewed Anthony Palermo, the colorist who recreated Marilyn Monroe’s iconic blonde color for actress Michelle Williams, as seen on the cover of Vogue. This week, we have the scoop on the hairstyle created by celeb hairstylist Oribe for the Vogue shoot. His inspiration for this look? Marilyn Monroe, of course, but also “old Hollywood glamour.”

This month’s Vogue cover features one of the most celebrated young actresses of today, Michelle Williams, channeling another famed blonde—the legendary Marilyn Monroe. Williams, who portrays the screen siren in the upcoming movie, My Week with Marilyn, was shot for the cover by Annie Leibovitz, with hair by Oribe and makeup by Linda Cantello for Giorgio Armani Beauty. The hair color, in the spot-on shade of platinum that Marilyn was known for, was created by celeb colorist Anthony Palermo, color director of New York City’s Anthony Leonard Salon.

You may have noticed the regal updo worn by Miss Angola Leila Lopes, a business student, who eventually took home the crown during the 60th Annual Miss Universe® Pageant broadcast live from São Paulo, Brazil. The elegant updo was created by Tammy Mixon, Farouk Systems Global Artistic Board and lead pageant stylist, who shares her steps inside.
