This year on March 8, thousands of events were held around the globe to mark International Women’s Day. The annual date was established about 100 years ago and is an official holiday in many countries of the world with celebrations both similar to Mother’s Day and more formal with government participation. This year’s theme, “Inspiring Change,” encourages advocacy for women's advancement everywhere in every way to challenge the status quo for women’s equality.

Our Healthy Hairdresser partner, City of Hope, inspires change for women with a facility dedicated exclusively to women’s health and well-being. The Rita Cooper Finkel and J. William Finkel Women’s Health Center promotes prevention, diagnosis and treatment that treat the whole person. This includes:

Supportive Care Services. Support groups, screening, prevention strategies and rehabilitation services help women who feel overwhelmed by cancer treatment.

Gynecological Cancers Program/Clinic. State-of-the-art programs ensure that women get the best care available for cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancers.

Breast Cancer Program/Clinic. Medical teams offer a multidisciplinary collaboration for every patient. The program serves as a model nationwide.
